NRSS can be built or installed on a number of platforms. FreeBSD, Linux on PPC/PPC64/x86/amd64. Expat headers and Ncurses headers are all that is required, in addition to GNU make and a compliant C compiler.

The downloads are provided courtesy of Google Code since this project is resident there (though the homepage isn’t).
The most current packaged version of NRSS is 0.3.9.

This version requires GNU Make, Expat and NCurses. You can build it by simply typing `make` in the untarred directory.
Distros
Currently, NRSS stable is in Debian (unstable/sid and testing/lenny). If you’re running either of those, you can merely ‘apt-get install nrss’ it.
As is the usual practice, Ubuntu Hardy has NRSS stable in the universe repo. Ubuntu users can also ‘apt-get install nrss’
For Gentoo, the “sunrise” overlay has an ebuild is included. You can use this overlay with layman.

The future version of NRSS became Canto .
